After a Russian newspaper reported that the Chechen authorities rounded up homosexual men and placed them in camps, former prisoners who managed to flee the camps are sharing their horrific stories.
“My car got stopped at a Chechen police checkpoint and they asked me for my documents,” a man who escaped and asked to be identified only as Ahmed told CNN. “They looked at them and said: ‘We are taking you.’”
