Ever since the US Supreme Court legalized gay marriage throughout America, Nigerians fear that Washington will move more aggressively for gay rights worldwide.

“People here are scared that once again the foreign governments are going to put pressure on countries like Nigeria, after the victory has been won in America,” says Nigerian writer Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani. “It’s happened in the past where foreign governments tried to intervene and people are scared that America is going to increase the pressure this time, especially because we have a new government.”…story continues below…
