On Dec 23, 2014 Star Africa reported: Gambian security forces from both the police and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) have embarked on a raid to round up suspected homosexuals who may possibly exist in the Greater Banjul metropolis, especially in the Tourism Development Area (TDA), APA learns here Tuesday.
The NIA operatives on Sunday arrested three suspected gays. However, according to a statement from the NIA office in Banjul, broadcast over Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS) on Sunday evening, the three suspects have confessed to be engaged in the act. ”Other suspects are in hiding or have left the country”, an NIA operative has said.
The investigating agents have called on the general public, especially parents and landlords, to help expose the homosexual suspects, as it is strictly against the laws of the country.
