Reported June 27, 2014 by the Indian Express – The case of alleged custodial rape of a Mumbai-based transgender in Ajmer on June 4 has been transferred to CID Crime Branch following strong protests from social activists and pressure groups.
The 25-year-old transgender had come down from Mumbai to offer prayers at the Ajmer Dargah with seven others when she was taken into police custody after a minor scuffle and allegedly gangraped by three policemen.
Speaking to The Indian Express, the alleged victim said three policemen — constables Bhawani Singh and Om Prakash and Assistant Sub-Inspector Lakshmi Narayan — took turns to rape her.
